AEFE network

A school system unique in the world

LIFV is part of the network of the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE), the largest network of schools in the world. As such, LIFV offers education in line with the standards of the French National Education curriculum. This affiliation holds significant benefits for our students. It means that they have the opportunity to continue their education seamlessly in any school within the AEFE network, regardless of their location. This interconnectedness not only facilitates international mobility but also ensures a consistent and high-quality educational experience, thanks to the high standards upheld by the AEFE network.

Established in 1990, the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE) has a rich history as a national public association operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Its primary mission revolves around delivering essential educational services to French expatriate children residing beyond the borders of France. In doing so, AEFE also plays a pivotal role in fostering the global presence of the French language and culture while forging stronger connections between the French educational system and its international counterparts.

French educational institutions located abroad are staunch advocates of excellence, collaboration, and the French language. They provide students with an educational experience that transcends borders, characterized by the rigorous standards of the French curriculum while remaining attuned to the unique cultural context of their host countries.

These schools open their doors to a diverse student body, including French expatriates, local students, and international learners. Embracing this rich cultural tapestry, they employ innovative teaching methods and a broad-minded approach, with a special emphasis on language acquisition.

Operating within a dynamic and engaging global network, these schools are instrumental in cultivating collective educational initiatives of great value. Their affiliation with this extensive worldwide network ensures a seamless educational journey for children, enabling them to transition smoothly from one school to another and from one country to another, spanning from kindergarten through Grade 12.

AEFE is a public body under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organising and managing the French education network abroad. 494 schools with almost 330,000 pupils in 135 countries are taking part of this school system, which is unique in the world. The quality and uniformity of the education provided in these schools, as well as the values attached to them are the distinctive features of this network, which is unique in the world by its extent.
