Library

A few words from the documentalist

The Library and Documentation Centre (bibliothèque centre documentaire – BCD, on Silo 13) and the Documentation and Information Centre (centre de documentation et d’information – CDI, on Antakalnio 54) are at the heart of our school. Children from CP (6-7 years) to CM2 classes (10-11 years) spend an hour each week in order to read a book, listen to a story, or do a research work. Children like to spend time reading comics, discovering a new comic strip book, or immersing themselves in different documentaries. Our essential mission is to make the children familiar with French language through speech and writing. From CP, children can borrow a book each week and take it home.
Here are the rules for borrowing which are signed by the parents at the beginning of the school year:
Books can be borrowed for 2 weeks; the library sets this loan period. The reader can have a loan extended once at the library (BCD), which is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm or at the library (CDI) which is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

If the delay is more than two weeks, the child will receive a reminder in the home-school liaison notebook. Then, parents undertake to follow up on this reminder in the upcoming week. If the book is not returned after a week, it is considered lost. Parents will receive an invoice (book price at purchase and shipping cost).
Borrowed documents must be returned in the condition in which they were loaned. Any damaged or unreturned document must be repaid by the borrower at the discounted purchase price. Pupils in the second cycle can borrow 1 book at a time; Pupils in the third cycle can borrow 2 books at a time.

This software grants access to our library to everyone! To access it, you need a password that I give to every pupil and teacher. On this website, you have access to our entire library. You can see which books are available, which ones your child borrowed and do thematic research.
Hiboutheque.fr makes our library an interactive place, a place of discovery, instruction and a place of wonder. In the library, we organise activities related to reading and French culture. A book club takes place twice a week for children in primary school. A literary café takes place twice a week for middle school pupils. We organise once a week a cinema club for CP classes (6-7 years) at the BCD.

We know that children love the library and feel good there. Our mission is to make it a place of creativity, discovery, and learning.

Thank you all for helping us making this place a living place!
If you have any questions related to activities taking place at the library, you can write to the documentalist-teacher Bart Pauwels: bibliotheque@lifv.lt
